Viana – About 10,000 zungueiras (street vendor women) will benefit from credit to promote commercial activity, as part of a cooperation memorandum signed on Wednesday in the municipality of Viana, between the Youth Association for the Support of Needy Youth (Jucarente) and the Basel Angola hygiene products factory.
The agreement is based on the provision of cleaning and hygiene products on credit, starting at 10,000 kwanzas, which should be repaid after the sale of the goods, and the zungueira will keep the profit.
Speaking to the press, Basel Angola's marketing director, Ricardo da Costa, said the initiative is nationwide and involves training and skills development programs for the job market, promoting entrepreneurship in the country.
According to the source, Jucarente was chosen for its experience in working with needy families and will use its database to identify and register the zungueiras that will benefit.
For his part, the president of Jucarente, José Gombo, said that the project 'The street is not your place', carried out in partnership with the Provincial Government of Luanda, will be replicated to train and improve the working conditions of Zungueira women.
According to the official, women with financial difficulties, but willing to carry out some kind of business, have in this agreement an opportunity to make their dream come true.
The president said he will work with the social action offices of municipal administrations and civil society organizations to locate needy families to be part of the project.
Basel Angola has been in existence since 2009 and employs 1,200 workers, including nationals and foreigners, who work in the cleaning and hygiene products factory.
Jucarente, on the other hand, has been in existence for 20 years and operates in the mobilization of civil society, supporting needy families, with the donation of food and training for insertion in the labor market. FCC/HDC/QCB/DOJ
