Luanda - The director-general of the Barcelona Free Trade Zone, Blanca Sorigué, has shown willingness to collaborate with the Barra do Dande-Bengo Free Zone project, to support staff training.
The interest was expressed on the sidelines of an assessment visit to the Barcelona Free Zone by the Angolan delegation, made up of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Port of Luanda, Alberto Bengue, and Barra do Dande-Bengo Board of Directors Chairman Joaquim Piedade.
The Angolan delegation presented a video showing the project (prototype) of the future Barra do Dande-Bengo Free Zone.
At the time, the Barra do Dande-Bengo CEO, Joaquim Piedade made a exhibition on Angola and projects as well as the works of the Barra do Dande-Bengo Free Trade Zone.
According to a note from the Angolan diplomatic mission in Spain, before the meeting with the director-general, the Angolan delegation was received by the Urbanisation director, Paco Sensat, who presented, with maps and models, the different spaces built and the functionality of each work centre.
During the presentation, the official mentioned some main services of the Free Trade Zone, such as the industrial estate and the technological park, highlighting actions like fairs and international congresses, promoting technology 4.0, renewable energies and hydrogeneras.
Paco Sensat said that despite the fact that the consortium is a public entity, it does not benefit from public funds but it finances itself, mainly with the rental of their self-built industrial ships.
Following this, the delegation visited the 3D Digital Incubator which is dedicated to co-working and community zones, printing laboratories, post-processes and a showroom of printed parts.
The Free Trade Zone for Integrated Development of Barra do Dande in Bengo province, plans a set of infrastructures that will contribute with 1,5% to 2% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the next ten years.
The project will be implemented in an area of 860 hectares, approximately 16% of the total area allocated to the concession granted, the project will involve an investment of US$ 600 million from the state and US$ 950 million from private companies.
The Barra do Dande Free Trade Zone which is managed by the Barra do Dande Development Society S.A, aims to assure the oil strategic reserve close to the ocean terminal, which will have a storage capacity of 582,000 cubic metres of fuel, including petrol and diesel.
The Free Trade Zone will also assure the strategic reserve and food security by building infrastructure for storage of food products, including the most processed ones, development of industrial poles and extension of free trade and national energetic transition.
The Barra do Dande Free Trade Zone for Integrated Development (ZFDIBD) was created on 06 May 2021 through Presidential Decree.
