Lobito – US President Joe Biden on Wednesday learnt about the facilities, equipment and organization of the Port, one of the most important infrastructures in the Lobito Corridor.
Accompanied by the presidents of Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia and the Tanzanian vice-president, João Lourenço, Félix Tshisekedi, Hakainde Hichilema and Philip Mpango, respectively, Joe Biden was informed about the Port's level of operability.
The US president also learned about the advantages, in relation to its geographical location, port security in terms of international navigation, among other relevant aspects, following a guided tour, where the extensive presidential delegation toured some areas of great strategic importance of the Porto.
Among the most important infrastructures there is the Multipurpose Terminal (general and containerized cargo) stand out, where the US president witnessed the arrival of a train from the DRC carrying copper heading to New Orleans, US.
The Port of Lobito ensures a high percentage of international trade volume for the entire sub-region.
Containerized cargo goes abroad, such as construction materials, fuels, drinks, etc., while imports include ore from the DRC, the Katanga area, and Zambia, the Copperbelt region. TC/CRB/AMP
