Luanda – The southern Cunene province will benefit from the first abstraction and transfer water system that will be unveiled on April 4 this year.
Estimated at USD 136 million, the project will help mitigate the impact of drought in the country’s southern region.
Water scarcity has always been one of the problems in the southern region, particularly in Cunene province, hit by cyclic drought, said the deputy governor for Political, Social and Economic sector of Cunene, Apolo Ndinoulenga.
The Project will provide water to roughly 235, 000 people, 50,000 heads of cattle and improve water supply for nearly 5,000 farmers, Ndinoulenga told the Third Edition of “CaféCIPRA” event.
