Luanda - The formal trade sector created 40,000 jobs, while the manufacturing industry provided 8,800 jobs during 2024, the minister, Rui Miguêns de Oliveira, said on Monday in Luanda.
Speaking at the end-of-year ceremony, the Minister of Industry and Trade said that this number of jobs is part of 213,533 new formal jobs generated from January to November this year in Angola, an average of 19,400 formal jobs per month.
Rui Miguêns de Oliveira said that the sector has been working in alignment with the Government's economic agenda, which includes measures to stimulate the economy and boost its potential, which are grouped into increasing national production, support and financing for the business sector, as well as simplification, tax relief and improvement of the business environment.
On the other hand, the minister highlighted the 5.5% growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the third quarter of this year, with emphasis on trade, which contributed 4.9%, and manufacturing industry with 2.1%.
According to the minister, these data show that the Angolan economy is on the right track, although they are still not enough to meet the real needs of citizens.
He added that the process of formalizing trade, increasing and diversifying industrial capacity should continue to be the agenda of activity in the new year ahead, investing in the training of staff and the promotion of technological innovation, so that the industry remains competitive, in a world scenario of rapid and constant changes.
