Luanda - The Angolan Fide Master (MF) Ednásia Júnior won, this Thursday, two victories in the double round (6th and 7th) of the African Junior Men's and Women's Chess Championship, which is taking place in Algiers city, Algeria, thus securing her second position.
The Angolan girl now has 5.5 points, as a result of five wins, one draw and the same number of defeats.
In black pieces, on the second board, Ednásia beat Ryma Nassr, Candidate Master of Algeria, and then beat the other Algerian Imene Zerarga, also on the second board, but with white pieces.
The other representative of the national team, the Master Fide (MF), Luzia Pires, won in the 6th round the Algerian Dalia Tani, and lost in the 7th with the competition leader, Lina Nassr who is also Algerian, now with 6.5 pts.
With this result, Luzia Pires leaves the 8th position and rises to 6th, with 3,5 pts.
For the 8th round, on Friday Ednásia Júnior, in black pieces, will face her partner Luzia Pires, also MF, on the first board.
However, in male competition, the Angolan representatives, Master Candidate (CM) Lutuima Amaro beat Abdellahi Khaled, from Mauritania, and MF Domingo Júnior beat Otmane Babahammou, from Algeria at 6th round.
In the 7th, Lutuima Amaro lost to Mcligeyo Oluka, from Kenya, and Domingos Junior beat the Nigerian Idara Joy.
Amaro Lutuima occupies the 9th position, with 3.5 points, while Domingos Junior is 10th, who also has 3.5 points.
The competition is being led by MI Lamine Brahami, from Algeria, with 5.5 points.
