Caxito - Sixteen million kwanzas is the amount of the reimbursement made by Mpambulo Congo agricultural association from the municipality of Ambriz, province of Bengo, to Banco Angolano de Investimentos, BAI, under the Credit Support Program (PAC).
The Cooperative received financing of around 30 million Kwanzas, out of 120 million requested, and has already repaid 16 million.
The amount received was spent on the acquisition of insecticides, fertilizers, motor pumps, irrigation systems, agricultural implements and on increasing cultivation and production areas, the president of the cooperative's supervisory board, Praia Cipriano, told ANGOP.
He highlighted that the 120 million would be for the acquisition of a tractor for agricultural mechanization since all work is done manually.
The association has an area of 1,500 hectares and only 800 in production. It produces bananas, cassava, sweet potatoes, eggplant, cabbage, tomatoes, kale, corn, oranges, papaya and ginguba.
Due to the regularity of the rains and the Prodesi credit, it is expected to harvest 30 tons of various products, compared to 24 tons harvested in 2023.
The low production was due to the drought that hit the region and caused the destruction of a large part of the plantations and losses of around 15 million kwanzas, he highlighted.
