Luanda - The Luanda Science Center (CCL) promoted on Saturday a program called "From Luanda to the Universe", which aims to promote knowledge about astronomy, allowing observation of the night sky, in a session specifically dedicated to the planets Jupiter and Mars.
The public can learn more about science in various educational workshops outside the institution, including a videomapping session, an innovative audiovisual experience using the latest technologies.
More than 600 people attended the session, where they learned about astronomy by observing the night sky through a telescope.
Visitors also had the opportunity to learn more about science, including astronomy, through various educational workshops on site.
The activity is part of CCL's mission to introduce Angolans of all ages to the various branches of science, promoting knowledge in a practical, fun and empowering way.
The experimental phase of the activity took place on September 14, 2024, under the theme "Luanda ao Luar", also focused on astronomy.
It marked the International Moon Observation Night, promoted by NASA, and the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, celebrated around the world on September 16.
The event was open to families and the public of all ages, who participated in practical and educational activities about Planet Earth, such as quizzes on the Moon, the atmosphere and the ozone layer, puzzles and drawings alluding to these themes.
During "Moonlight in Luanda", the CCL Planetarium was visited by 760 people.
The activity is supported by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation.
Since December 2023, the CCL has also been visited by representatives of government, academic and scientific institutions, as well as international personalities such as the former Secretary of State of the United States of America, Antony Blinken.
The institution intends to continue organizing scientific culture events and celebrating international days dedicated to science, with activities adapted to Angolan scientific, cultural and artistic realities, as was the case with "Luanda ao Luar".
CCL is a pioneering institution in Angola, dedicated to the dissemination and popularization of scientific and technological knowledge.
The center has enriched Luanda's boulevard, offering the population a unique experience in the city, where the public can have contact with science in an interactive, exciting and accessible way for all ages. AMC/AB/OHA/DAN/AMP
