Luanda - The president of the ruling MPLA party, João Lourenço, praised this Saturday, in Luanda, the performance of the national football team at the Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON’2023), where they reached the quarter-finals.
For the party leader, who led a mass event to present the 2024 political agenda, the country must pay tribute to the national team for the good results they achieved, despite not being able to reach the final.
"We are here to thank you and encourage you to continue preparing, because new AFCONs are coming, and we keep hope alive that the next AFCON will be
ours," he said.
We need to work to win the next edition, João Lourenço reiterated, adding that the motto the country was using (“Angola will win”) is still valid.
Angola lost this Friday, at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, in Abidjan, to Nigeria by 0-1, in the quarter-finals of the AFCON’2023.
