Luanda – Cuba’s Head of State, Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, is expected on Sunday (20) in Luanda for a state visit to Angola.
According to a note, to which ANGOP has had access, the Cuban statesman’s agenda includes a meeting with President João Lourenço and conversations between the ministerial delegations of the two countries.
The two heads of State are to witness, in the Presidential Palace, the signing of some bilateral agreements.
The Cuban official is also expected to deliver a speech at the National Assembly (Angolan parliament).
The partnership between Angola and Cuba is based on the General Co-operation Agreement signed in February 1976, focused on the sectors of Health and Education.
Cuba is a strategic partner of Angola since the latter’s ascension to independence in 1975, having supported the African country to face the then apartheid regime of South Africa.
The Caribbean country has for long been training Angolan cadres and it has manisfested its willingness to strengthen even more the bilateral economic co-operation.
