Porto Amboim – Angolan president João Lourenço on Saturday expressed satisfaction with private entities that defend the environment without direct support of the government.
The Head of State made the statements at the end of a visit to the turtle protection project (Kitabanga Project) in central Cuanza Sul province, where he took part in an ecological Christmas with several children.
"We saw that there are people involved in the defense of the environment, with their own resources and means, without waiting for support from the government” the president said.
João Lourenço numbered others that with poor resources or thanks to companies’ sponsorship have been doing their work to protect species, underlining that it is delightful to help when you feel that people have initiative before receiving any help and that the country is on the right track towards environment preservation.
The presidential couple visited the sea turtle nesting area of the Kitabanga Project, at the mouth of the Longa River, where they transferred hundreds of turtles to the sea.
