Luanda – The 3rd edition of the International Swimming Meeting, which starts on Saturday, January 1, and ends on Monday, in the capital Luanda, will feature the Tubarões de Moçambique team, who will be the only foreign participating competitors.
The competition, organized by the Luanda Provincial Swimming Association (APNL), aims to celebrate the 449th anniversary of the founding of the capital city, celebrated on the 25th of this month.
According to the chairman of APNL, Miguel Aguiar, speaking to ANGOP this Thursday, there is constant contact with the management of the Mozambican team, from the city of Maputo.
He informed that on Saturday and Sunday the competition will take place in pure waters on the 50-meter track of the Alvalade Swimming Complex.
For Monday, the program includes the open water and triathlon to take place in front of the Luanda Island Nautical Club, with a total of 40 races in the children's, youth, junior, senior and master categories, both male and female.
The triathlon competition will consist of 1,000M swimming, 45Km cycling and 10Km athletics races, while the open water will consist of 5Km both for male and female and 3Km and 1.5Km races.
The main swimming teams of the Province of Luanda will participate in the event, namely Luanda Island Nautical Club (CNIL), 1º de Agosto, Onda Sport Clube, Luanda Naval Club (CNL), Tatu Club, Luanda Swimming Club, Barracudas Club of Luanda, Luanda International School (LIS), as well as individual athletes and the invited team the Tubarões de Moçambique, thus only foreign competitor.
Matches will be divided into four sections as described below:
1st Section – day 01 from 8am to 1pm
2nd Section – day 01 from 3pm to 7pm
3rd Section – day 02 from 8am to 1pm
4th Section – day 02 from 3pm to 7pm
