Luanda - The African Football Confederation (CAF) released the official schedule for the 2024-25 season for clubs competitions, where Angola will participate with four teams.

According to the website of the governing body for football in Africa, the 2024-25 club season will begin with the preliminary phase on the 16th and 18th of August, with the group stage between October and December.

As for the knockout stages of the Champions Clubs League and the Confederations Cup, they will be played between March and May 2025.

As for player registration procedures, it will take place from the 1st to the 20th of July in the first phase, while, for the second phase, it will be from the 21st of July to the 31st of August.

CAF decided to maintain the qualification criteria, meaning there will be no playoff for teams eliminated from the African Champions Club League for the Confederations Cup.

According to the CAF’s official note, clubs eliminated in the 2nd round of the Champions League will not participate in the Confederations Cup.

Angola will compete in the Champions Club League with Petro de Luanda (national champion) and Sagrada Esperança da Lunda Norte (runner-up).

In the Confederation Cup, Desportivo da Lunda Sul (third place) will represent Angola, waiting for the fourth team, the winner of the Angola Cup, which is still ongoing.

If Petro de Luanda also win the Angola Cup, the losing finalist will represent the country in this event, also called the “Nelson Mandela Cup”.
