Dundo - The president of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), Adalberto Costa Júnior, on Saturday began a ten-day working visit to eastern Angola to assess the level of organization and growth of the party, as part of the celebrations of the 59th anniversary of its founding on 13 March 1966.
Adalberto Costa Júnior, who is accompanied by the secretary general of the party's youth wing, the Revolutionary United Youth of Angola (JURA), Nelito Ekuikui, and other leaders, will visit three of the four provinces in eastern Angola, namely Lunda-Norte, Lunda-Sul and Moxico.
The party leader began his trip in the municipality of Xá-muteba, Lunda-Norte, where he was received by some members of the party, traditional authorities and other entities.
In his first contact with supporters in Xá-muteba, Adalberto Júnior said that the aim of the visit is to understand the social, political and economic situation and to establish contact with the party's grassroots and intermediary structures.
In Lunda-Norte, where he will spend four days, the leader of the main opposition party will visit Xá-muteba and the municipalities of Cuango, Cafunfu, Caungula, Lóvua, Dundo and Lucapa, where he will meet with activists, traditional authorities and civil society.
This is the second visit to the province of Lunda-Norte by the UNITA leader in his capacity as party leader, after the one he made in 2022, at the time of the general elections.
