Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, Wednesday in Luanda, swore in the new governor of the province of Cuando Cubango, José Martins, appointed last 23 November.
At the ceremony, held at the Main Hall of the Presidential Palace, the deputy governor of Cabinda province for Technical Services and Infrastructures, Guilherme Pereira, and the itinerant ambassador, José Guerreiro Alves Primo, were also sworn in.
João Lourenço wished the newly sworn-in officials success in their duties.
In statements to the press, governor José Martins pledged to work to solve the fundamental problems that afflict the population of Cuando Cubango.
He appealed to the inhabitants of Cuando Cubango to get involved in the growth of the south-east province, limited to the north by the provinces of Bié and Moxico, to the east by the Republic of Zambia, to the south by Namibia and to the west by Cunene and Huila.
"We will do everything we can to make the Municipalities Intervention Plan (in Cuando Cubango province) a reality," he said.
José Martins replaces Júlio Bessa, who was in office since August 2019, having been dismissed last November.
