Luanda - Angolan head of State João Lourenço Tuesday expressed his conviction in strengthening bilateral cooperation between Angola and the United States
In a message addressed to his US counterpart, ahead of the American country’s independence anniversary, the Angolan Statesman said he was convinced that the two countries can develop thriving relationship that benefit their economies and strong friendship.
“I take advantage of this important date to express desire that Angola and the United States continue on the current path of deepening bilateral relations, based on the recognition of their reciprocal interests and mutual respect”, reads the message.
João Lourenço also highlights the fact that since the achievement of its Independence, 247 years ago, the United States has become an economic, financial, scientific, technological and cultural reference.
He praised the genius of that country’s men and women, who placed, with patriotism, their knowledge at the service of building the Nation.
Angola- US Relationship
Angola and the United States established formal diplomatic relations in 1993.
Angola is the third largest US trading partner in sub-Saharan Africa, mainly in the oil exports. The two countries cooperate in various areas, with emphasis on trade, finance, energy, manufacturing, security, health and justice.
Trade between Angola and the United States reached around US$1.4 billion, until November 2019. VM/NIC
