Luanda – Angola´s ambassador to Ethiopia, Miguel Bembe, on Wednesday, in Addis Ababa, presented the country's strategy on its presidency in the African Union (AU), which is essentially based on peace, security and good governance.
According to a press release, the diplomat, who is also Angola´s representative at the AU said that the boost in the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), promoting investments in continental infrastructures, human capital, consolidating and strengthening partnerships, are other priorities.
He was making these statements during a working meeting, with a delegation led by ambassador Javier Nino Perez, special representative of the European Union to the AU, within the scope of strengthening multilateral cooperation.
On the occasion, Miguel Bembe mentioned also the strengthening of the organizational structure and functioning of the AU, and the affirmation of the principles that governed the creation of the continental organization, as well as other points of Angola´s presidency.
He reinforced that they are in accordance with the seven African Aspirations and the emblematic projects of Agenda 2063 “The Africa We Want” and the theme for the year 2025: “Justice for Africans and people of African descent through reparations”.
In turn, the head of the European delegation, the Spanish Javier Nino Perez, said that the EU reviews itself on all points on Angola's agenda.
He highlighted that Angola can count on the support and collaboration of the European Union, given the historical past and common interests between the two continents.
The official considered it important to continue building a strong partnership that serves as a platform for the consolidation of multilateralism.
The diplomat looks forward to Angola's presence at the 3rd AU-EU Ministerial Meeting, as well as in the 1st Meeting of the Follow-up Committee, scheduled for 21 May in Brussels, Belgium, which will precede the 7th AU-EU Summit of Heads of State and Government, also scheduled for this year, in one of the African countries.
