Menongue - The head of the Attorney General Office in the province of Cuando-Cubango, Hermenegildo Nicolau, demanded greater transparency from managers in public procurement processes, and the creation of communication mechanisms with citizens.
Hermenegildo Nicolau was speaking, in Menongue, at the presentation of the National Strategy for the Prevention and Repression of Corruption (ENAPREC), in a workshop under the theme “Prevention and Combat of Corruption.
On the occasion, he called on public managers to be leaders and have ethical principles of good governance values, so that the community and administration can raise the levels of action in Cuando-Cubango.
The prosecutor defends a greater culture of crime denouncing citizens in relation to public managers, when there are acts of corruption and vice-versa, so that general prevention against corruption is successful, since prevention begins in families and schools, through education.
The Cuando-Cubango's vice-governor for the Political, Social and Economic Sector, Helena Chimena, said that, with the diploma, the aim is to promote good governance and reinforce citizens' trust in public institutions.
The purpose is also to adopt good practices, both in the public and private sectors, thus aligning the country with the best international practices and recommendations for combating corruption.
As per Helena Chimena, combating corruption is everyone's responsibility, from families, schools, public and private institutions, with transversal training on anti-corruption topics in the school curriculum and training programs for public servants, for ways to overcome its impact.
Cuando-Cubango was the 1st province to host the presentation of the National Strategy for the Prevention and Repression of Corruption (ENAPREC), a diploma in force in the country since July 19th of the current year. ALK/PLB/CF/DOJ
