Luanda – 1º de Agosto, with 8 available athletes, dominates the national team's call-up for the preparation week of the International Handball Federation (IHF), taking place from the 21st to the 27th of this month, in Luanda.
According to a press note from the Angolan Handball Federation (FAAND), to which ANGOP had access, in the country's capital, Petro de Luanda comes next with 4 players, after recently winning the CAHB Women's Championship played in Morocco.
The national team gathered today (Oct 21) for the training program's kick off, stipulated by the governing body of the sport in the world. During this period, friendly clashes between countries are allowed, but Angola, this time, chose to train internally.
FAAND's objective is to prepare for the 2024 African Women's Handball Championship, to be held from November 26th to December 7th, in Kinshasa (DRC).
The national team are led by Spanish coach Carlos Viver, assisted by Nelson Catito, Anderson Fortunato (physical trainer) and Graça Monteiro (physiotherapist).
