Luanda - Angola is taking part in the 12th Tourism Meeting of Ministers of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) that started Thursday in São Tomé and Principe.
The Angolan delegation is headed by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Hélder Marcelino, at this high-level meeting, which is being held under the slogan “Sustainable and Inclusive Tourism: Challenges and Opportunities”.
A note from the Ministry of Tourism sent to ANGOP on Thursday states that the event aims to address political coordination and the sharing of information on the contribution of tourism to the sustainable development of the CPLP.
It is also aimed at diplomatic consultation on the organization's potential cooperation activities to strengthen the sector amongst the member states.
Issues related to assessment on the degree of implementation of the action plan and identifying priorities for cooperation in the tourism sector in the 2024-2026 will also be analyzed, the statement said.
On the sidelines of the event, the Angolan delegation will hold bilateral meetings with countries of the community to broaden cooperation and create strategies to boost tourism development and attract investment.
Created in 1996, the CPLP has eight member states, namely Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Equatorial, Guinea-Bissau, Portugal, Mozambique and East Timor, representing four continents. ACC/VC/TED/AMP
