Luanda - Angola and Ukraine discussed on Friday (11), in Antalya, Turkey, the current state of bilateral cooperation and expressed convergence of interests towards their deepening, in the most different areas.
The event took place during a meeting between the Angola minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and His counterpart from Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, on the sidelines of the 4th Edition of the Diplomacy Forum taking place in that Turkish city.
The meeting represented the continuation of the political dialogue initiated on the occasion of the official visit of the Ukrainian minister to Luanda, in Oct 2024, forming part of the mutual efforts aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Republic of Angola and Ukraine, within the framework of a common vision of constructive engagement with the African continent.
On the occasion, Andrii Sybih reiterated the Ukrainian Govt's commitment to fostering a solid partnership with Angola, having highlighted the importance of maintaining a permanent channel of political dialogue at the highest level.
In turn, minister Téte António acknowledged Ukraine's willingness to deepen ties with Africa, and Angola's willingness to continue to prioritize the diplomacy of understanding, based on respect for the principles enshrined in the UN Charter and International Law.
The two heads of diplomacy welcomed the progress made in bilateral ties and expressed interest in promoting technical and political visits, with the aim of identifying projects of common interest.
On the occasion, the two personalities also discussed the geopolitical repercussions of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, with a particular focus on global food security, energy stability and the regular functioning of supply chains.
Finally, they acknowledged the role of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF 2025) as a privileged stage for deepening political coordination and preventive diplomacy.
Relations between Angola and Ukraine were established in 1993, after Ukraine's independence, and have remained cordial ever since.
