Luanda - The Angolan government will make a salary adjustment of 25% of the civil service by the end of March this year, with retroactive payments for the months of January and February, the Secretary of State for Labour and Social Security, Pedro Filipe announced on Tuesday in Luanda.
The Government and the Trade Unions addressed, on Tuesday, in Luanda, for four hours, issues related to the implementation of the salary readjustment of the civil service.
Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, the Secretary of State said that the retroactive readjustment, initially scheduled for the month of January, is assured.
'We realize that there is great expectation from employees and administrative agents, but we had the opportunity to mention that we will comply, at the latest by the end of March this year,' he reiterated.
He stressed that, despite the delay in the materialization of this measure, due to obedience to some legislative procedures, the 25% is guaranteed in the first quarter of this year, as a result of the agreement signed between the Angolan Government and the Trade Unions, in 2024.
He reaffirmed the commitment to the continuity of the process, dialogue and materialization of the aspirations, both of the Trade Unions and of the Government.
On the occasion, the secretary general of the General Central of Independent and Free Trade Unions of Angola (CGSILA), Francisco Jacinto, confirmed the possibility of retroactivity of the salary adjustment, although he did not go into detail on this aspect.
Despite the Government's promise to pay retroactively, the official said that the trade unions will continue to maintain dialogue with the Government until the agreement is fulfilled.
He stressed that, following this Tuesday's meeting, the trade unions will meet on Friday to consider the issue in detail. AMC/OHA/DOJ
