Cairo – The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira, heads the Angolan delegation attending the 'NewSpace Africa 2025' Conference, taking place Sunday and Monday in Cairo.
The minister arrived in Cairo on Saturday, accompanied by the director of the National Space Programme Management Office, Zolana João, and the head of the Department of Development of Space Applications of Angola, Luciano Lupedia.
According to a note from the Institutional Communication and Press Services of the Angolan Embassy in the Arab Republic of Egypt, to which ANGOP had access, the conference dedicated to strengthening the African economy through space innovation runs until Wednesday in the city of Cairo.
The event is a premier international platform that brings together key space industry leaders, commercial space companies, investors, and key stakeholders in space and satellite technologies.
The conference, a joint organization of the African Space Agency and the Egyptian Space Agency, takes place under the motto 'Empowering Africa's Economy through Space-Driven Innovation' and will witness the launch of the African Space Agency.
The initiative will bring together representatives of African and international space agencies, as well as representatives of governments and large private companies operating in the global space industry and international organizations.
The activity will allow the African countries to showcase their space capabilities, explore opportunities for collaboration and cooperation, and drive innovation in the space industry.
The event will provide different moments, including interaction sessions and group discussions to discuss the most relevant challenges and opportunities, exhibitions on the latest innovations, B2B meetings, and networking opportunities to enhance business cooperation, allowing for the building of new relationships and partnerships that will enhance the development of Africa's space economy.
On the sidelines of the conference, Minister Mário Oliveira's agenda reserves audiences for different institutions, including Airbus and the Egyptian business group Elsewedy.
Airbus is a European aerospace company, while Elsewedy is an Engineering and Construction, Digital Solutions and Infrastructure Investment company, which has been operating in the Angolan market for close to 10 years. OHA/DOJ
