Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, ordered Friday the retirement, due to age limits, of generals Artur Santos Vinama and João António Santana, who leave the functions of deputy chief of the General Staff (EMG) of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA).
Prior to their licensing from active military service, the two officers held, respectively, the positions of deputy head of EMG for the Operational and Development Area and deputy head of EMG for Patriotic Education.
According to a note to which ANGOP had access, the President of the Republic and commander-in-chief of the FAA promoted lieutenant generals Jaime Manuel Pombo Vilinga and José Maria Marques to the rank of general, who were subsequently appointed to replace the two general officers undergoing reform.
General José Maria Marques was until then deputy commander of the Army for Patriotic Education and General Jaime Manuel Pombo Vilinga head of the Directorate of Military Studies and Research of the EMG of the Angolan Armed Forces. IZ/DOJ
