Pretoria - The business environment between Angolan and South African companies has been improving significantly, the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Angolan Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX), Arlindo das Chagas Rangel, revealed Wednesday, in the city of Pretoria, South Africa.

Speaking to the press, on the occasion of the Business Forum between the two countries, as part of the State visit of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, he clarified that within the scope of cooperation with that country, the Angolan authorities have provided assistance to foreign investors.

Meanwhile, President João Lourenço, who is in South Africa since Wednesday, will be one of the main speakers at the event, which will feature the participation of several South African businesspeople.

According to Arlindo das Chagas Rangel, the business environment in Angola is continuously improving.

“We have taken steps and developed actions to improve the business environment”, he clarified.

Regarding the volume of South African investments in Angola, he informed that from 2020 to 2023 there were ten South African projects in the country of abot 23 million dollars that are linked to the services, trade, industry sectors and agriculture.

Cooperation relations between Angola and South Africa have solid historical and strategic foundations, due to the mutual support during periods of struggle for independence and against apartheid regime.

Currently, the two countries maintain a partnership that includes areas such as economy, politics, regional security and culture.

Cooperation between the two Southern African countries seeks to intensify trade exchanges and mutual investments, with South Africa being one of Angola's largest trading partners in the region, with an interest in sectors such as mining, electricity, infrastructure and agriculture.

However, recently, initiatives such as the use of local currencies in bilateral trade and the creation of credit insurance mechanisms to facilitate business have been discussed.
