Luanda – Angola Airline TAAG and RTX Pratt & Whitney Canada have signed an engine maintenance agreement, valid for six years, ANGOP learned Thursday in Luanda from the Angolan carrier.
The agreement is for 13 PW150A engines and another spare kept in inventory, according to a note from the national carrier.
It consists of a Fleet Management Program (FMP™) that allows Pratt and Whitney to customize its offer to meet TAAG's specific operational context.
TAAG's CEO, Nelson de Oliveira, expressed confidence in the proven experience of the engine manufacturer/OEM to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency of the Angolan carrier's PW150A engines.
He said that the Dash 8-400 aircraft, equipped with the PW150A engine, was perfectly suited to the needs, with a capacity of around 75 passengers, high fuel efficiency and general reliability.
Irene Makris, vice-president of sales and marketing at Pratt & Whitney Canada, said TAAG is an airline that plays a key role at national and international level, serving Angola and beyond.
In her opinion, ‘airlines that provide regional connectivity, such as TAAG, play a vital role in facilitating passenger mobility to major urban centers and international destinations’.
The FMP package acquired by TAAG includes Pratt & Whitney's fuel analysis technology, the FAST™ diagnostic and prognostic solution that wirelessly records, analyses and sends all flight data intelligence immediately after the engine is shut down.
PW100/PW150 engines power 90% of the 30-90 passenger regional range turboprop aircraft in operation today. The turboprop engines consume between 25 and 40 per cent less fuel and produce 50% fewer CO2 emissions than regional jets of a similar size.
