Luanda - The Interministerial Commission of the Privatisation Programme decided on Wednesday in Luanda to strengthen the monitoring of about 30 assets privatised three years ago, but which are not conducting business so far, so that these companies can quickly resume their activities.

The information was provided today by the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute for the Management of State Assets and Participations, Álvaro Fernão, at the end of the meeting of the Interministerial Commission of PROPRIV.

According to the manager, the idea is to work closely with entrepreneurs to assess what is happening and mitigate the respective process, putting companies at the service of the economy.

Álvaro Fernão recalled that, in 2024, PROPRIV contracted about one billion kwanzas, of which about 640 billion have already been effectively received and the rest of the amount will be received in installments.

He also stressed that since the beginning of the program, 103 assets have already been privatized and more than three thousand direct and indirect jobs have been created.

He said that this year will be the year with the most privatisations on the stock exchange, with four assets being prepared, namely Banco de Fomento de Angola (BFA), Standard Bank, Unitel and TV Cabo.

He predicted that BFA and Standard Bank will go public in the first half of this year.

The meeting of the Interministerial Commission of the Privatisation Programme was chaired by the Minister of Planning, Víctor Guilherme, and aimed to address the level of implementation of this plan and to outline the actions for this year.

Approved in 2019, through Presidential Decree No. 250/19 of 5 August, PROPRIV's main objective is to reduce State intervention in the economy and promote business development, stimulating competition, competitiveness and efficiency of the national economy.

Initially scheduled to be executed in the 2019-2022 period, with a total of 195 public assets to be privatised, PROPRIV was extended to the 2023-2027 period, through Presidential Decree No. 78/23 of 28 March. ACC/QCB/DOJ
