Luanda - The Executive Director of the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG), Ana Miala, said Thursday that Angola has abundant natural resources to diversify energy sources and lead the world in this process.
Speaking at the Conference on Innovation and Energy Transition, Miala said Angola has been blessed with vast hydrocarbon reserves, the basis of the national economy and the driving force behind the country's development so far.
‘In addition to the abundant hydrocarbon reserves, much of which has yet to be exploited, Angola's real strength lies in the diversity of its natural resources, providing immense potential to diversify its energy sources,’ Miala said.
According to Ana Miala, this diversification involves the country's rich agricultural resources and the promotion of policies that provide innovations in the extraction of fossil fuels in a sustainable and responsible way.
In order to lead this diversification of energy sources, the official said, Angola must create an appropriate regulatory environment to guarantee the security of investors in these new energy sources.
‘Environmental degradation and the scarcity of natural resources are real and imminent threats. Postponing crucial decision-making is fatal for humanity as a whole, including our country,’ said the ANGP official.
Ana Miala stressed that we are currently living in a time of great global challenges, while transformations have already begun, with humanity facing an unprecedented battle, a war that is not fought with conventional weapons, but with ideas, innovations, determination and action.
During her speech at the conference organized by the ANPG and the Angola-Italy Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ana Miala argued that only together will it be possible to overcome climate challenges, promote energy security and guarantee a prosperous future for the population.
‘In the battle for sustainability, Angola, with its vast wealth of hydrocarbons, is uniquely positioned to lead this transition in a diversified and sustainable way,’ concluded Ana Miala.
