Caxito – Petro de Luanda defeated Redonda do Bengo (3-0) on Wednesday (16) in the round of 16 of the Angola Football League Cup, played at the Dande Stadium, qualifying for the quarter-finals where they’ll face the Sagrada Esperança squad.
Although the goals came in the 2nd half, as a result of Redonda do Bengo's defensive stance in the first half, Petro, as was predictable, dominated the game, creating more goal opportunities.
Petro's Julinho opened the score in the 56' minute, after Gilberto's assistance and in the 70' minute, scored his second goal of the match.
At some points in the game, Redonda do Bengo tried to counter the favoritism of the defending champion of the Angola Cup, but without success.
In the 83rd minute, Ilídio, who’d just been placed in the pitch, scored the 3rd goal in a counter-attack.
With this defeat, the team led by coach Salvador Cardoso were eliminated from the Angola Cup, while Petro de Luanda will face Sagrada Esperança in the quarter-finals.
The quarter-final matches of the Angola Cup are scheduled for the 30th of this month, at 3:00 pm.
At the end of the match, Petro de Luanda's assistant coach, Joaquim Golinho, acknowledged the defensive capacity of Redonda FC do Bengo, promising more work to achieve the season's objectives, which are to win the Girabola and the Angola Cup.
In turn, the coach of Redonda FC do Bengo, Salvador Cardoso, highlighted Petro's superiority, adding that the team's focus will now be on the 2nd round of the qualifying zone for the 2025/26 Girabola.
