Luanda - Five hundred and fifty vendors from Mabunda fish market vendors will be transferred to Praia Amélia market for six months, the deputy governor Luanda for the Economic Affairs, Jorge Miguéis Augusto, said Thursday.

According to the official, the conditions were created for a temporary market in Praia Amélia, in order to safeguard the lives of sellers and customers, taking into account the cholera outbreak affecting the country.

Jorge Miguéis Augusto was speaking during a visit to the new market, where he recommended that more improvements be made in some aspects.

The Praia Amélia market has 14 toilets and appropriate places for placing waste and draining water.

On the other hand, the deputy governor informed that the Mabunda Market has entered into works lasting four months.

'We are putting pressure on the provincial government partners involved in the process, to have the Mabunda market with all the necessary conditions', he said.

The Secretary of State for Public Health, Carlos Pinto de Sousa, stressed that the provisional market has some conditions, so the prevention measures against cholera will be complied with.

He added that in case of non-compliance with the measures, there will be the closure of the commercial space.

Carlos Pinto de Sousa said that depending on the recommendations left, the Environment, Energy and Water and Fisheries sectors will carry out the necessary inspection.
