Luanda - Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan visited on Tuesday the Dr. António Agostinho Neto Memorial in Luanda, where she laid a wreath in honor of the first President of Angola and signed the Book of Honor.

Samia Suluhu Hassan, who arrived in Angola on Monday afternoon for a three-day state visit at the invitation of her counterpart, João Lourenço, paid tribute to the efforts of the first President of Angola, Agostinho Neto, in the struggle for the liberation of the African continent and, in particular, of this region.

For the stateswoman, his spirit will live with us forever, stressing that the heroes continue to rest in harmony and peace throughout the world.

"I pay a glowing tribute to the great icons and statesmen of Africa," she wrote.

During her stay in Angola, the Tanzanian Head of State will carry out an intense political-diplomatic, economic and cultural program.

The Tanzanian President met with the Angolan President on Tuesday afternoon, during which the two leaders discussed the deepening of bilateral relations between the two countries, after which Samia Suluhu Hassan will attend a solemn plenary session of the National Assembly.

Political and diplomatic relations between Angola and Tanzania were formally established in 1976, shortly after the proclamation of national independence.

Tanzania stood out as one of the African countries most supportive of the liberation struggle in the PALOP, having welcomed and supported the Angolan liberation movements on Tanzanian soil.

This historical relationship of solidarity has been translated into an enduring friendship that has been consolidated over the past decades.

Both countries share a common vision of sustainable development, regional integration and the defense of multilateralism, and actively cooperate within the African Union, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and other international platforms. VIC/TED/AMP
