Luanda - The chairman of the Italian multinational company Leonardo S.P.A., formerly, Stefano Pontecorvo, on Wednesday in Luanda Province expressed his desire to expand cooperation with Angola in the areas of space and cyberspace.

The intention was expressed by the businessman after an audience granted to him by the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, with whom he discussed aspects linked to cooperation with one of Italy's largest industrial conglomerates and one of the world's leading companies in the aerospace, defense and security, founded in 1948.

He said that Angola is a strategically important historical partner for them, adding that they have the largest number of helicopters sold by his company to Angola, emphasizing that they also work on maritime security issues where the company intends to expand cooperation.

Stefano Pontecorvo explained that the intention is to expand cooperation also in the area of space and cyberspace, due to the fact that Angola has important talents in the areas of industry, education and science.

He highlighted that Angola has people who master high technologies and his visit to Angola as a company representative is very important for this cooperation.

The company Leonardo S.P.A is known for its central role in the development of cutting-edge technologies for civil and military use.

The company with its headquarters in Rome, Italy, operates in the aerospace sectors, in aircraft, helicopter, satellite projects, defence electronic systems, armored vehicles, missiles, torpedoes, cyber security solutions, surveillance and border control systems and other military equipment.

It has a strong presence in the international market, especially in defense contracts with governments in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia.

There are also strategic investments in technological modernization and innovation in defence and security systems, especially with the growing importance of cyber warfare and artificial intelligence.
