Muscat - Angola is seeking to benefit from the Sultanate of Oman's experience in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, the southern African country's Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Media, Mário de Oliveira, said in Muscat on Thursday.
Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the meeting between government delegations from Angola and the Sultanate of Oman, Mário de Oliveira said his country was also seeking Oman's experience in separating telecommunications service companies from infrastructure companies.
During his contacts with Omani officials in the telecommunications sector, the minister said he noticed that they also have a space program under development, and that the Angolan government believes all this will allow contacts to be established from now on to bring the parties closer together in this field.
The Minister said that he has invited Oman to participate in ANGOTIC2025 (an annual telecommunications fair held in Angola) because he believes that it is a great opportunity for the country to show its market what Angolan companies are doing and from there to establish concrete development sharing programs.
Mario de Oliveira said that Angola is looking to Oman for experience and investors in the telecommunications, technology, information and media sectors, among others.
"A very specific reference that I have always made in these meetings has to do with the fact that we in Angola urgently need to develop a telecommunications industry," the minister said.
According to the minister, this industry would allow Angola to produce radios, antennas, telecommunications towers, a fiber optic factory, cables, in general, that serve telecommunications services.
