Luanda - The Minister of Culture, Filipe Zau, on Thursday in Luanda, highlighted the role of the National Radio of Angola (RNA) in promoting the official and mother tongues of Africa, ensuring their relevance in Angola's development process and as a linguistic cultural heritage.
The government made the statement during the central act of the International Day of Monuments and Sites, to be celebrated on April 18, held at the RNA, where the minister unveiled the plaque that classifies its building as a national cultural heritage and visited the exhibition and facilities.
Filipe Zau emphasized that Angola is a multicultural and multilingual country, whose identity is the result of several factors, such as the mainly Bantu civilization and the contact with the European civilization, which gave birth to the ideal of independence.
The Minister emphasized that parallel to the political awareness of the need to create national unity, there is also an awareness of the prevailing cultural diversity with respect for differences, a goal that the RNA fulfills.
The ceremony was attended by a number of personalities, including the Secretaries of State for Social Communication, Nuno Albino, and for Telecommunications and Information Technology, Ângelo Buta João, and the Deputy Governor of Luanda for the Political and Social Sector, Manuel Gonçalves.
The presidents and directors of media companies and the Chinese ambassador to Angola, Gong Tao, also attended the ceremony.
An Executive Decree issued by the Ministry of Culture classified the Cinguvu drum and the traditional Hungo musical instrument as National Intangible Cultural Heritage, both in the field of Traditional Knowledge and Crafts.
The Olundongo Dance and the "19 Traditional Games of the Communities of Southern Angola" were classified as National Intangible Heritage in the field of artistic expressions and social practices, rituals and festivities, while the Clube Desportivo e Centro Recreativo Marítimo da Ilha was classified as a Site of National Historic Interest.
