Luanda - Investor visas in Angola will henceforth be granted in a maximum of three to five days, contrary to prior 30 days, ANGOP learnt Friday.
The measure follows a meeting between the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Angolan Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX), Arlindo Rangel, and the director-general of the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME), João Dias.
According to a note from the AIPEX, the understanding reached also means that the times for granting work visas and residence permits, requested under the private investment program, will be reduced to the same periods.
The document emphasizes that the initiative represents a good step and puts Angola on the same level as the most ‘desirable’ countries for foreign investors.
‘This initiative is inseparable from the process of reducing red tape and simplification underway in Angola that is currently being carried by the government , with the aim of opening up the country to the world,’ the statement said, adding that this process places special emphasis on the migration issue.
Last year, Angola exempted citizens of more than 90 countries from all continents from tourist visas
AIPEX said the initiative is an action aligned with the promotion of economic growth, job creation and the diversification of the national economy.
AIPEX's mission is to promote and attract local and foreign private investment, with the aim of contributing to the country's socio-economic development and to promote the increase and diversification of exports of its products and services. OPF/VC/AMP
