Mbanza Kongo - The deputy governor of Zaire for the Political, Social and Economic sector, Afonso Nzolameso, on Wednesday in Mbanza Kongo, called on the bodies that intervene in the administration of justice to combine synergies to combat fuel smuggling.
Speaking at the opening of the coordination meeting of the bodies that intervene in the administration of justice, the minister said that the work of the defence and security bodies must be complemented by the Attorney General's Office (PGR) and the Courts, for a close fight against the phenomenon.
According to the official, the enactment, last April, by the President of the Republic, of Law No. 5/24, the law to Combat the Smuggling of Petroleum Products, unequivocally demonstrates the concern of the Angolan State about this phenomenon that has devastating repercussions on the national economy.
'With a specific law now, the judiciary has everything to give due treatment to cases related to fuel smuggling here in our province,' said the vice governor.
In turn, the interim presiding judge of the Mbanza Kongo District Court, Felisberto Laurindo Capunge, said that with the entry into force of the Law to Combat the Smuggling of Petroleum Products, the bodies that intervene in the administration of justice in the region are now better equipped to fight the phenomenon relentlessly.
'We hope that everyone will contribute so that the fight against the smuggling of petroleum products in the province of Zaire has the desired results,' he said.
Topics such as 'The day-to-day life of the bailiff', 'The crime of smuggling', 'The role of the guarantee judge' and 'Preventive detention, compliance with legal deadlines', dominated the meeting's work.
The meeting was attended by members of the Government, magistrates, traditional and religious authorities, municipal administrators, lawyers, among other guests. DA/JL/DOJ
