Andulo – Thirty-five Portuguese and Angolan tourists are in the municipality of Andulo, central Province of Bié, to explore the tourist areas of this region, as part of the Raid Cacimbo project.
Called "Utima Wo Ngola" (local vernacular that means in Portuguese Heart of Angola) the expedition, in an initiative by Banco de Fomento Angola (BFA), has already reached the missions of Chilesso and Chicumbi.
At the Chilesso Mission, tourists visited the mystical cave paintings and volcanic rocks that expel hot springs.
With an area of 10,316 square kilometers, the municipality of Andulo controls 4 communes, namely Andulo, Cassumbi, Chivaúlo and Calussinga.
In addition to the municipality of Andulo, the caravan, made up of 19 vehicles, will also explore the areas of the municipality of Cuemba (dam on the Luando river and the Cuemba and Luando falls) and Camacupa (geodetic center of Angola and others), during 15 days.
Founded in 1960, Raid Cacimbo is now in its 28th edition. Back in 2023, tourists left from Lobito to Zambia.
The caravan's spokesperson, Elivalda Ferreira, explained that the Raid Cacimbo expedition also has the mission of publicizing industrial projects that promote national economic development.
With an area of 70,314 square kilometers, the province of Bié has approximately 2 million inhabitants, distributed across 9 municipalities.
