Huambo - Tourists of various nationalities on board the “Rovos Rail” luxury train on Monday said they were delighted with the hospitality displayed by the Angolan people, as well as the architectural structures of the Moxico, Bié and Huambo provinces.
This sentiment was expressed by tourists of American, Swiss, German, Brazilian, British, Australian, Brazilian and South African nationalities, who are following a tourist route along the Lobito Corridor, a journey of 1,344 kilometers.
On the locomotive, with 22 carriages, there are around 41 tourists of various nationalities and a group of 31 assistants, including interpreters, drivers and workers on the luxury train, whose journey ends in Benguela province.
After arriving in Huambo city, the tourists visited the city especially the square with the bust of Angola's first president, António Agostinho Neto, and the general workshop of the Benguela Railway Company (CFB), where they saw the historic and old locomotives, no longer in use.
The tourists were welcomed with traditional “Olundongo” songs and dances, in an exhibition of the anthropological values of the Ovimbundu people and the lifestyle of the local population.
Interviewed by ANGOP, Brazilian Anderson Freitas said he felt safe when he arrived in Angola and was delighted with the hospitality of the people, who showed joy and a good welcome.
For his part, the South African historian, Nicholas Schofield, characterized the Angolans as a friendly people with good hospitality, as well as the security of the Lobito corridor, which allows the free movement of people and goods.
Louis Dupertuis, a Swiss national, was delighted with the lifestyle of the population and the natural beauty of the travel route in the provinces of Moxico, Bié and Huambo, as well as the urban areas of these Angolan cities.
American Julie Rossow, from California, was enthusiastic about her positive experience, after observing the culture of the Angolan people and their way of life, which is mixed with unparalleled color expressed in the clothes and beauty of women with fantastic appearances.
On that occasion, he asked the Angolan authorities to improve the national parks, with a view to promoting tourism and preserving the environment.
