Moçâmedes - The Minister of Tourism, Márcio Daniel, held Thursday, in Moçâmedes, a meeting with several service providers in visitors’ attractions, hospitality and restaurants as part of the government’s effort to development of tourist activity in the province of Namibe.
The government official explained to those present about the need to promote tourism, considering it to be the Government's task to identify economic barriers and remove them, as much as possible, in favor of carrying out the activity.
“The State does not exist to compete with private operators. We are here to convey what lines can contribute to the development of tourism in Angola,” he said.
According to the minister, this class has been helping the Government to boost tourism in the region.
The operators presented several concerns, defending the improvement of access roads, water supply, electricity supply, as well as hotel infrastructures.
They also requested the review of ticket prices for the national air carrier TAAG, the opening of the Namibe/Lubango railway section, the certification of tourist guides, the training of hotel agents and access to bank credit.
Minister Márcio Daniel has been carrying out, since Tuesday, a six-day visit to Namibe, during which he seeks to verify the state of the sector in the province, identify and select main assets that serve as a “decoy” for tourism.
