Lubango - The province of Huíla has the conditions to have strong and profitable national and international tourism, but the journey to get there involves enhancing these strengths, so that they become real, considered the governor of Huíla, Nuno Mahapi.
The governor, in an interview with Rádio Nacional de Angola, stated that tourism is evolving so that all polluting actions in the world are removed, with tourism being one of the focuses in the process of economic diversification.
He declared that investments need to be made so that tourists, when they arrive in Huíla, find services operating normally, as the province already has the natural, human and structural conditions to have strong tourism and contribute to the growth of the national economy. .
He highlighted that the government has a project to modernize the Tundavala Gap, without harming nature, where citizens will find attractions, which include a cable car, an elevator, restaurant services and other attractions.
The source added that another bet is on Cristo Rei, where he wants to innovate transport to the site with a cable car that could transport tourists from the city and vice versa, as currently access is only possible by road.
“It has the culture of our families, Huíla is from the part of the country that still retains its originality, it is part of not only the enrichment of Angola, but also the income of the families themselves to enter the tourism route”, he continued.
He also highlighted the Bicuar National Park, which by investing in its routes and providing more services, will attract more visitors and generate income, as it already has a diversified fauna and flora.
The governor said that it is a protection area that needs investments so that the surrounding population can take greater care of nature and thus make the best way for sustainable tourism.
Nuno Mahapi pointed out the need to make better use of the Huíla waterfall in Lubango, waterfalls in Humpata, among other wonders that can leverage tourism in the province and the country, since Huíla has a hotel network and diversified gastronomy that satisfies.
For the governor, if serious investments are made in Huíla, tourism will provide more urgent responses to the country's economy, as they are less than a thousand kilometers from Namibia, a neighbor that already lives off tourism. MS/MS/DOJ
