Lubango - The Mumba Farm, from the Omatapalo group, located on the banks of the Cubango river, in the municipality of Cuvango, southern Huíla Province, intends to open its first lodge with 23 suites in December this year.

The information is contained in a press release that ANGOP had access to, on Wednesday, in the city of Lubango, stating that it is an undertaking intended to increase the country's tourism potential.

The structure named “Mumba Lodje” was built in an old tobacco dryer from the 1st half of the 20th century, preserving the original structure and materials, which allowed the old drying rooms to be transformed into rooms, maintaining the trees and vegetation that grew inside of the structure during more than 50 years of inactivity.

According to the statement, it aims to provide its guests with a unique experience of contact with nature and wildlife and its opening is scheduled for the end of this year.

“Visitors will be able to enjoy boat trips on the Cubango River, horse riding, safaris in the property's wild area to observe wildlife, among others. In addition, a set of recreational activities will be offered, always with the aim of promoting connection with the natural environment”, reads the report.

The project was implemented in 2017 and three years later benefited from credit under the Production Support, Export Diversification and Import Substitution Program (PRODESI) of 4.196 billion kwanzas.

The same is being applied to increasing the supply of meat, resulting in the slaughter of 30 heads per week, avoiding a full return on investment until 2026.

It is located 45 kilometers east of the municipal town of Cuvango and has an area of 90,000 hectares, 10,000 of which are under exploitation, with planting of forage grasses, corn and soybeans, destined for animal feed.

The farm has more than 25,000 animals and aims to reach 150,000 by 2030, to achieve self-sufficiency in animal protein in the country.
