Lubango - The map and tourist route of Lubango city, central Huila province, with historical, geo-climatic and architectural data to make it easier for passers-by and tourists to find their way around, has already been finalized and could be officially launched in September.
The project is being developed by the travel and tourism agency Tac Tour and has direct partnerships with the three municipal administrations, namely Lubango, Chibia and Humpata.
For this first phase, the tourist route and map will only be launched with data from the above said municipalities, due to the investments made.
After 18 months, Lubango already has its tourist map integrated into a roadmap, making it the second city to have the initiative, after Luanda, which has had it since September 2022.
Speaking to ANGOP, the head of the agency, Carlos Bumba, explained that the initiative is only going ahead with Lubango city at this stage, since it is the administration that has invested monetary funds that have accelerated the completion of the work, whose launch is scheduled for 17 September.
He added that in this first phase, the Lubango tourist map contains information on the Catholic Mission and the Huíla waterfalls, barracões, Luyovo area, where the Memorial to the Namibian Combatants is located, the Tundavala Rift, the historic centre of Lubango, among other information.
More than just institutional support, said the source, the Lubango administration made a financial contribution for the project to be finalized, from the graphic design work to the printing, which made it possible to have the script ready.
In this first phase, according to the source, there will be a print run of 100 physical copies for the official launch, while the digital copy will be available on a web portal in PDF format.
In the second phase the roadmap will already be commercialized, with hotels and restaurants that have expressed interest, included.
Carlos Bumba emphasised that the map and tourist route, in physical format, will be available at airports, travel agencies, supermarkets and other strategic locations for anyone interested in visiting the city.
The project has the institutional support of the Huíla government, through the province's Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports Office, as well as the provincial services of the National Territorial Planning and Housing Institute (INOTU) and the Geographical and Cadastral Institute of Angola (IGCA).
Tac Tour is a Luanda-based Angolan tourism promotion and animation agency, providing consultancy, design, execution and supply of tourist itineraries in the country operating since 2020, with offices in the provinces of Huíla, Namibe and Benguela.
The agency's aim is to promote domestic tourism, from living and feeling Angola through its tourist potential, to creating and forging a tourist culture, as well as getting to know, preserving, valuing and publicising the natural and cultural heritage, through contact with tourist itineraries.
