Luanda - The resident representative of the African Development Bank in Angola, Pietro Toigo, reaffirmed, on Thursday (10), the institution's support for the dynamization of the Angolan tourism sector, with a view to contributing to the ongoing economic diversification process in the country.
Speaking during a meeting with the minister of Tourism, Márcio Daniel, the source also reiterated the commitment to continue providing financing for the tourism sector and ensuring the formulation of exchange and training programs that can contribute to the growth of this activity.
Regarding the meeting, he said that it aimed, among other aspects, to analyze the adoption of financing mechanisms for the tourism industry, with an emphasis on supporting the private sector, promoting tourism entrepreneurship and self-employment, towards the creation of an environment conducive to sustainable growth.
The meeting also served to present cooperation instruments, such as the National Tourism Promotion Plan (PLANATUR), the Tourism Value Chain Study and Investment Opportunities in the sector as a starting point that will guide cooperation between the African Development Bank and the Ministry of Economy.
The strategy approved by the AfDB bodies for this year was also
presented, regarding investments in agricultural infrastructure, youth training and job creation.
The next meeting, which has not yet been scheduled, will aim to deepen technical discussions and practical and immediate benefits.
