Cuito – Joaquim Capango airport, in the city of Cuito, Province of Bié, will see the return of flights from the Angolan Airlines (TAAG), starting on August 2nd of this year, more than two years later.
According to a government source who spoke this Wednesday, there will be two weekly frequencies, Tuesday and Friday.
Domestic flights have been suspended for operational and commercial reasons since February 2022, which at the time forced local passengers to travel to the Province of Huambo.
The return of flights is a result of the working meeting between the provincial governor, Pereira Alfredo, and the minister of Transport, Ricardo de Abreu, in which they addressed the crucial importance of the circulation of flights in this part of the country, in order to continue leveraging the social and economic development of this region.
During the meeting, issues related to the entry into operation of the logistics platform in the municipality of Cunhinga and the increase in trips to the Cuito Railway Station were also analyzed.
They also discussed the interconnection of the country's railway line from the province of Bié, issues that the Ministry of Transport has been improving for its implementation.
