Saurimo – Those responsible for car and motorbike workshops, based in Lunda-Sul province, were urged to collaborate with the National Police (PN) in reporting cars that come in, with inappropriate characteristics, in order to facilitate the work of judicial bodies, due to theft of these media in recent times.
The challenge was launched by the PN's 2nd commander for Public Order, Manuel Lopes, during a meeting held with those responsible for workshops and some mechanics.
He stated that the measure aims to combat the phenomenon of stolen cars and the support that many technicians give to them in mischaracterization of the means.
The corporation official stated that the support that many mechanics provide constitutes a crime and they can also be held civilly and criminally liable.
He stressed that they must also report in case of suspicion or identification of parts, with dubious origin, taking into account that many are dismantled from stolen vehicles.
“We would like the workshops to have a culture of reporting and using a notebook recording the entry and exit of vehicles and motorbikes, to facilitate control”, he emphasized.
The Municipal Directorate of Transport and Road Mobility in Saurimo controls 74 workshops.
