Cabinda – At least 750 passengers heading to Soyo municipality (Zaire) and Luanda have since Monday been forced to remain in Cabinda province, following a temporary suspension of catamaran services due to bad weather.
According to the head of the transportation company, Artur de Carvalho, the company has been notified by the Cabinda Port Authority to suspend passenger boats heading for Soyo and Luanda until the weather conditions return to normal.
He recognized the constraints the situation is causing to passengers and cargo holders, stressing that the company will be making two trips a day (as opposed to one) over the next few days to compensate for the high number of passengers.
Meanwhile, some passengers are apprehensive about the temporary cancellation of catamaran services on the Cabinda/Soyo/Luanda routes.
The Cabinda/Soyo route operates three times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and vice versa, while the Cabinda/Luanda route operates twice a week (Tuesday and Friday). JFC/JL/DAN/AMP
