Luanda - Angolan government's commitment, effort and investment to ensure the modernisation and efficiency of the civil aviation sector has recently been highlighted.
The recognition is contained in a press release signed by the Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), Juan Carlos Salazar.
Juan Carlos Salazar highlights the investments made in the airport infrastructure, in the improvement of operations and in the professional training of the airline.
In press release, Juan Salazar highlighted the investment in the restructuring of the provision of navigation services and the meteorological service, which demonstrate the continuous desire to improve the quality of the services provided and the connection to priority destinations in the global market.
The secretary general stated that ICAO is available to continue to support Angola in the field of supervision and security, so that the country can assume itself as an important aviation hub in Africa.
“Our organisation is committed to supporting Angola through assistance provided by the Technical Cooperation Office and the East Africa Regional Office in Nairobi. We are confident that, as this collaboration continues, the industry, supervisory systems and the expansion of connectivity to other destinations from Angola will continue to enhance its position as one of the most important aviation hubs in Africa”.
According to Transport Minister, Ricardo Viegas d'Abreu, ICAO's position represents a vote of confidence in the work in progress and opens the door for the results of the next safety audit, to be carried out by the organisation in Angola, to be positive.
“After meeting with ICAO's top officials at the 41st General Assembly, recently held in Canada, I am certain that this is a partnership that greatly contributes to the improvement of civil aviation and to position it as one of the most respected in Africa ”, reads the note.
The minister said: “I am very confident in the results that we will receive from the security audit to be carried out by ICAO in December and of which we will know the final results in March 2023. Basically, we believe that with partners like these, we found a path forward".
