Ndalatando - Another 14 buses will reinforce the public transport fleet in the province of Cuanza-Norte to mobility of citizens and goods, ANGOP learned onTuesday.
The Volkswagen buses have capacity for 62 passengers, of which 34 are seated and 28 are standing.
Speaking to ANGOP, the head of the Transport Department of the Provincial Transport, Traffic and Urban Mobility Office, Graciano Alexandre Gaspar, informed that with these new vehicles the province now has 69 buses.
The buses are valued at 58.354.933Kz (US$70.051). Payment will be made in the Single Treasury Account, in monthly installments of 461.976Kz, over a period of 10 years.
The buses, he clarified, will be under private management, through a public tender, for operators with an incorporated company, the capacity to manage the vehicles and honor commitments with the Angolan State, the supplier.
According to the official, the means will operate on previously selected inter-municipal routes and reinforce urban mobility in the city of Ndalatando, capital of the province, which lacks means for passenger transport, especially for students.
He indicated that the Ndalatando/Samba Lucala, Ndalatando/Banga/Quiculungo/Bologongo and Ngonguembo routes were the most devoid of buses, depending on the condition of the roads.
There are 55 buses in operation in the province, managed by 43 operators, which in the opinion of Graciano Alexandre Gaspar, are insufficient to meet the transport demand.
He informed that this situation could improve with the entry into the market of a private operator already licensed for urban and inter-municipal transport activities. EFM/IMA/AC/CF/DOJ
