Luanda - The National Institute of Roads (INEA) assured on Friday that the conditions have been created for the mobility of access to the new Luanda International Airport “Dr António Agostinho Neto”, which is scheduled to open on 10 November.
According to the provincial director of INEA, Rosária Kiala, the Executive will take the Avenida Deolinda Rodrigues, from the Expressway, towards Cabo Lombo, to the 25 bridge.
Speaking to the press at the end of a guided tour of the various infrastructures boosted by the construction of the New Luanda International Airport, Rosa Kila said that the work is limited to improving the asphalt carpet, vertical and horizontal signage, construction of stops for public transport, rehabilitation and construction of new pedestrians.
According to the official, Kima Kienda (Boavista) avenues in the urban district of Ingombota, Luanda municipality, on January 21, Pedro de Castro Van-Dúnem Loy, Patriota and Futungo roads are also being rehabilitated in this first phase.
She made it known that, after the completion of the works, the Expressway will have three lanes (it currently has two), with the central part being reserved for the construction of the surface metro.
“We already have a lot of work done, anyone who passes by, for example, Deolinda Rodrigues, can notice a before and after”, she expressed.
Rosa Kiala made it known that the work on Avenida Rodrigues is 95 percent complete, with only the new pedestrian crossings to be installed, a total of seven.
On Avenida Fidel Castro, according to the source, eight new pedestrian crossings will also be built and, on other arteries in Luanda, the rehabilitation of more than 20 pedestrian crossings is planned.
A direct connection junction was also made to the EN 230 towards Catete-Viana, ramps 1, 2 and 3 with 525 m long, 812 and 384 m long, respectively, a loop with 237 m long, as well as a crossing street with 1108 m long.
According to the head of INEA, within the framework of the various infrastructures boosted by the construction of the New International Airport 'Dr. António Agostinho Neto', more than 700 jobs were created.
“We have more than 700 jobs, we are almost reaching a thousand jobs”, she stressed.
According to Rosa Kiala, the total cost of all structuring projects is above US$200 million.
“We are over US$200 million, as a whole, we have the rehabilitation of the roads, the projects, the new roads, the second ring road, and another one that will connect the Kimbango road to the Expressway”, she explained
