Luanda - The opening of the public tender for the Concession of the Right to Exploration, Management and Maintenance of the Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN), in Luanda, held this week by the Ministry of Transport, allowed the admission of two proposals from companies that will be submitted to the Government for analysis.
These are proposals presented by the Corporacion América Airports (CAAP), Mota Engil and BestFly consortium, as well as the China National Aero-Technology Consortium (AVIC), International Engineering Corporation (CAIEC) and Yunnan Airport Group Co.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Transport to which ANGOP had access on Friday, the aforementioned proposals will be subjected to a detailed evaluation process, followed by a negotiation phase.
The document states that, after completion of this stage, the contracting public entity will make the final award decision.

The Corporacion América Airports consortium is a company specialized in airport management that operates 52 airports in six countries in Latin America and Europe (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Ecuador, Armenia and Italy), and is also the 10th largest airport operator in the private sector. in the world, based on passenger traffic in 2019.

BestFly is an Angolan aviation company, founded in November 2009, and is made up of qualified and experienced professionals in executive aviation in the country, becoming the market leader and the largest company in terms of ground assistance, with a higher share to 80%. It offers other services, which include charter flights and aircraft management.
Regarding the company Yunnan Airport Group Co, it is one of the main state-owned companies in China, in terms of airport management, operating in several airports in Yunnan province.
The company stands out in airport services, operational security and technological innovation, having recorded a turnover of approximately $1.12 billion dollars in 2023.
It has 15 airports under its management, guaranteeing a total of 502,000 flights, with a movement of 63.9 million passengers and more than 400 thousand tons of cargo.
On the other hand, the China National Aero-Technology International Engineering Corporation consortium is an aerospace defense, engineering and infrastructure construction conglomerate. It is a state-owned company, affiliated with the Aviation Industry Corporation of China.
The public tender for the Concession of the Right to Exploration, Management and Maintenance of the AIAAN, launched on November 17, 2023, provides for the concession for a period of 25 years, with the possibility of extending it for another 15 years.
It should be noted that AIAAN has the capacity to move up to 15 million passengers and 130 thousand tons of goods per year. This airport infrastructure was designed as one of the largest and most relevant airport and logistics hubs on the African continent, with a view to boosting commercial exchange, promoting mobility between African countries and consolidating Angola's connection with the world.
